Danger to Children on Roads

The practice of srnall children being allowed by their parents to play on Borough roads -has been drawn to the attention of the Taupo Times, and it has been urged that parents do not seem to realise the danger, in these day-s of motor traffic, that their children are running. The matter was referred to by Chief Traffic Officer B. P. Muggeridge, of Rotorua, in a recent address to the Putaruru Jaycees (Junior Ghamber of Commerce). Mr Muggeridge said that Road Safety Committees were emphasising that for children the days of playing on roads were gone. The habit, in view of motor traffic dangers, was a bad one for children to develop.
