TAUPO BREAD PRICES
rm The TTiupo Bread Retailers' I Committee has arranged for I hread to be supplied from Napier as from Friday. The Department of Industries and Commerce has £ advised that the retail price of bread in Taupo may be raised to 9(1 to cover the freight charge of |. l^d per 21b loaf and to bring the I price of locally baked bread to I parity with the imported bread so I as to avoid the anomally of two I different prices. in the shops. The Committee has suggested that the Government should meet the freight charges on bread | from Napier but the Department I has stated that this will not be done, and that the consumers must pay. The price is to be reviewed at | short intervals or on the estab- | lishment of another bakery.
