FIRE POLICE
A letter to the Borough Oouucil I fi'orn the Taupo TToop, Legiou of Frontiersmen, stated that it was notecl that on the aclvice of the police five members only of the TToop liad been appointed as Fire Police. The Troop pointed out that the general practice elsewhere was to appoint the entire Troop. This enabled thein to work a roster system for lire duty, thereby guaranteeing that the necessary number were always available, which niight not be the ease il" five members only were sworn in. It was also mentioned that one of the Frontiersmen appointed was a meniber of the Fire Brigade and not eligible for police duty. The Council decided to refer the letter to the police for a furtlier report.
