BAPTIST CHURCH HALL FOR TAUPO
At the recent meeting of Ihe Taupo Bo rough Council an application for a building permit for the erection of a Baptist Church hall, on the corner of Taupo Yiew Road and Hatepe Avenue, was granted. The work of building the hall will be done chiefly by voluntary labouia and plans have been prepared by a local member of the Baptist Church. Already much encourageiuent has been received in the way of donations, gifts of equipment, and assistance from local firms interested in the welfare of the children of Taupo, states the Rev. R. E. Bullen, L.TIu, of Rotorua. * In recent months Baptists have been pursuing a vigorous Tlome Mission work throughout the South Auckland area. The Baptist Church at Tokoroa was the first to be opened in tliat town, and within a couple of months a ,Sunday school hall should be completed in Kawerau. The Taupo site will provide a Sunday school for the eastern and northeastern part of Taupo town, states Mr Bullerv At the moment there is no church or Sunday school on the eastern side of Rifle Range Road. Bater, as the town grows, a modern and roomy church will be built and the hall will be used solely for youth work. The Baptists hope it will be a real community centre in that area, providing opportunities not only for services and Sunday school, but also for youth elub activities, woraen's meetings and so on.
