Mr Albert George Reid
The death on Wednesday, July 13, of Mr Albert George Reid, aged 33, eldest son of Mr and Mrs A. H. Reid, Gascoigne Street, came as a shock to his many friends, whose sympathy goes out to his parents* brothers and sister. Mr Reid had suffered from * ill-health over a period of some years, but showed great spirit in his adversity. In recent years he was a keen member of the Taupo Bowling Olub, of which he had been treasurer, a post to which he was re-elected at the annual meeting last month. Last season he won several Club cbmpetitionsHe was keenly interested in the game, and his popularity amongst the Club members was notable. On the formation of the Indoor Bowling Club Mr Reid was elected secretary and evinced the sarne interest in the indoor game as he did in the outdoor. He was a member of the local Buffalo Lodge. The funeral took place on Saturday, July 16, and was preceded by a service at St. Andrew's Church,_ the Rev. H. Tangohau officiating. There was a large gathering, representative of all sections of the community, including many associated with the StJphn Ambulance Brigade and Rugby football organisations, to which respectively deceased's mother and father had given long service. The pall-bearers were Messrs F. Bostock, J. McBeth and W- Prosser, representing the two Bowling Clubs, and Messrs Earl Yates, F. Mahanga and R. Lang, representing the Buffalo Lodge. Following the Church service at the graveside, the Lodge members encircled the grave for the reading of their burial service by Mr E. Bestic, of Rotorua, Provincial Funeral Marshall, R.A.O.B-, supported by Mr H. Solomon, also of Rotorua, Past, Provincial Grand Primo, R.A-O.B.
