C.O.G.'s Unbeaten First Round
Final first rouud. matches in the K. 0. Lewis Gup coiupetition were played last Saturday. The Tokaanu teams sliowed great improvement, particularly High School. Tokaanu Women fought hard against Stuarts but were defeated 11 — 0 th rough inaceurate goaling. Tokaanu High , School gave Spa a good run for the ball but were 110 match in the defence area, where B. Bramley, handling t'or Spa witb dexterity and speed, t'ed Snowdrop Wall who kept up her end b.v goaling ;iceura.lely. Spa wmi 17 — 7. First round points were : College Old Girls, 24; Taupo High School, 21; Spa, 15; Huka, 15; Mokai, 12; Stuarts, 30: Tokaanu Women, i> ; Waipahihi, 3: Tokaanu High School, 1. Final Round For the tinal round, commenced last Saturday, teams have been divided into two sections. C.O.G,, Taupo II. S., Spa, Huka and Stuarts have qualified for the tirst seetion, and Mokai. Tokaanu Woinen. Waipahihi and Tokaanu II-S. l'or ihe second. This arrangeniont wil! allovv Ihe second seetion winners io play Ihe lirst seetion runners-up l'or the right to play the leading team. There were some hard games in final round play. Huka, unable to field a t'ull team, Iost: to Taupo H-S. 25 — 8. Most surprising feature of the day was the near defeat of C.O.G. hy Stuarts. Sl reng'l hened eonsiderahly hy the addilion of Francis Graee in their goal area, Stuarts altaeked lieroely and within live iniiiules of the end the scores were 13-all. Realising their danger C.O-G. put on the pace to score four goals for a final 17 — 13 win. Waipahihi defeated Tokaanu Women 6 — 1 in a game without special note. Mokai did not field a full team hut heat Tokaanu H.S. 20 — 8. Fo Mokai, P. Paerata eombined exeellently with J. Grahani and impressed with her footwork. liooking and accurate goaling. Mrs G. Waihape 1ms taken over Ihe coaching of the P> representatives, as Miss T. Elkington has heen unable to carry on. The draw for to-morrow is as follows : Stuarts v. Taupo H.S., 1.45 p.m., referee S. George; Huka v. Spa, 2.30 p.m., J. Ilahih ; C.O.G. a bye.. At Tokaanu : Tokaanu Women v. T >- kaanu II.S. At Mokai : Waipahihi v. Mokai.
