BOWLING CLUB'S ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The annual general meoting of tlie Taupo Bowling Glub was held in tlre Olub's Pavilion on Sunda'y, June 2(j, the Vice-president, Mr R. MeMillan, presiding over an attendance of 84. The eleetion of ofiicers and comniittees for the ensuing year resulted as follows : • . President, R. MeMillan; immediate past president, E. T. Smith; vicepresldenits, W. G. Morris and G-. M. Grickett ; treasurer, George Reid ; secretary, F. Bostock ; green superintendent, G. F. Colbeck. Committee, J. McBeth, A. McLean, E. Dallington, F. Mahanga, W. Prosser, V. Simpson. Hon. auditor, C. R. W.atson. Coaches, R. MeMillan, F. T. Smith,, A. MSmith. Grounds committee, H. Marlow, F. Mahanga, A. M. Tierney, J. Wells- Centre delegates, V. Simpson, R. MeMillan. Match committee, M. J. McGreevy, R. MeMillan) fv. G. Morris. Social committee, lV. G. Morris, A. McLean, J. McBeth, F. Mahanga. Life Members Elected Mr MeMillan referred to the work done for the Club by Messrs B. M. Armstrong and C. McLean, and mentioned that the latter was shortly leav/ng Taupo,, as the former had al-. ready done. He said it gavd him great pleasure to niove that these two gentlemen be elected life members of the Club. The motion was seconded by Mr W. G. Morris and carried with acclamatidn.
The list of life members is now as follows : Messrs H. Marlow, J- Pennycock, J. Wells, A. Coley, B. M. Armstrong, C. McLean. Subscriptions for- the ensuing .year were fixed at £5 15s, reducible to £5 5s if paid by November 1, 1955. An amendment that there be a further reduction of £2 2s to bona flde first year players (beginners) was lost.. It was also decided that new full playing members be required to pay a nomination fee of £1 ls, such snm to accompany nomination forms. The meeting made the following recommendations to the incoming committee : That a flagstaff be erected on the pavilion and that a suit-' able flag be flown thereon on club days ; that trpphies be awarded to runners-up as well as winners in all competitioris. The committee was empowered to reimburse* reasonable travelling expenses to delegates atten.ding centre meetings. Help for Indoor Bowlers The Coimnittoe had previously granted free nsc of the Gluh's indoor howling equipment to the newly-form-o(l Indoor llowling (1lul), the position to he reviewed by Ihe-present general meeting. Following a report by Mr Bostock, it was dccided that .the Indoor Bowling Club he granted continued free use of the equipment, on the understanding that the two sets of bowls and tliree mats involved reinained tlie property of the Club. Mr Fulljames moved, seconded by Mr Jones, that the meeting place on record its appreciation of the services rendered by the outgoing executive, and also of the assistance given by the Ladies' Club in the provision of afternoon teas at various functions. The motion was carried. i
