Kimbo

Sir, — What a sagacious and useful dog Kimbo (Taupo Tirnes, 17/6/55) Tnust be ! No wonder his mistress is proud of him ! I'm thrilled to learn he has -so early gained the respect of other dogs, even if he looks like a dandy. After all, any dog disregarding all canine invitations to flirt, or to engage in idle gossip, is a dog in a thousand. However, and I pen this in sorrow, his mother hajf failed to educate him to our New Zealand standard. By law no dogs are • allowed in shops where food is on sale. To place two paws on a grocer's conn-ter is really not a' nice thing to do. Our citizens frown upon dogs mixing with bacon, butter and other foodstuffs. Even in Taupo we appreciate cleanliness! Again, just imagine what would happen if Kimbo, mistaking a'pound of sausages for a hated enemy, made a savage 'attack? Really, I hate to contemplate. However, if grocers, etc., exhibited a notice "Dogs Not Allowed" (as I believe they are supposed to do), Kimbo, sagacious dog . that he is, who would, of course, instruct accordingly. I am, etc.,

"RUGBEIA."
