The Pig Was Startled Too
Late one recent afternoon Mr Gillies , Smith had an unusual experience when pig-hunting six miles or so from Taupo in the neighbourhood of the Napier Road. Evidently disturbed by the dog, a pig dashed out of the scrub and collided with Mr Smith, who was almost thrown to the ground, but was. not injured. The pig, evidently as startled as its pursuer, escaped. Mr Smith states that there appears to be an abundance of wild pig and deer in the area.
