Early Morning Fire Alarm
The Fire Brigade's alarm siren woke up the town at 3.30 on Sunday morning last. Nine brigadesmen were quickly assembled at the Fire Brigade Station, to find that a car owned by Mr Peter Munro had tfackfired when its owner attempted to start it and tlie carburettor had caught fireOne .of the party ran from Ruapehu Street, where the car was parked, and started the station siren. The fire was under control when the brigadesmen ari'ived at the station and the engines were not taken out. There was a heavy frost, and the brigademen state that no spectators appeared.
