TAUPO WOMAN'S SUDDEN DEATH
Mrs Molly Tawera, wife of Mr Harry Tawera, of Rifle Range Road, was taken suddenly ill on Waiariki (Spa) Road about 1.55 p.m. on Friday, June 10, and died shortly after in Dr G. West's surgery, to which she had been taken at her request by a passing motorist, Mr Jack Harris, farmer, of Clive. Mr Harris was proceeding in his car from the Spa Hotel, where he was staying, to Taupo, when deceased, who was standing on the roadside near the Pihanga Street intersection, beckoned to him to stop. He did so, opened the front door on the passenger side and asked what he could do for her. Deceased did not answer, but got into the car and then said, "Take me to a doctor." Mr Harris saw that she was distressed and slightly shaky. He at once continued, picking up a girt whom he asked to direct him to Dr West's surgery. Deceased did not speak again. Deceased was assisted into the surgery by Dr West and Mr Harris. Deceased, who leaves a family of six children, was aged 36, and had been under medical treatment on sev- ' eral occasion in recent years. She had had a bad cold for some days.
