Applicants in the 70 years age group are required to supply a medical certificate, forms for which can be obtained from and returned completed to the Borough Council office, Story Lane, Taupo, prior to the test. S. TOREPE, Town Clerk. NOTICE TO MAKE RETURNS OF INCOME UNDER THE LAND AND INCOME TAX ACT, 1954. PURSUANT to the Land and Income Tax Act, 1954, the Commissioner of Inland Revenue hereby gives Notice as follows : — 1. Returns of income for the year ended 31st March, 1955, are required from — (a) All companies, all persons in business (including farming), and all trustees, executors, and administrators, irrespective of whether a profit or a loss has been made; and (b) all other persons who derived, during the year, income from salary, wages, interest, rent, annuity, dividend or other sources, where the total income so derived exceeded £375. 2. Returns are required to be delivered or forwarded to the district office of the Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Department where the taxnaver's records are filed —

(a) Not later than July 7th, 1955, where returns are for a year ended on any day falling in the period 1st October, 1954, to 7th May, 1955, inclusive ; and (b) within two months of balance date where returns are for a year ending on any day falling in the period 8th May to 30th September, 1955, inclusive. 3. A declaration _ of income other than salary or wages must be furnished on a separate "£375 and Under Form" by every person in receipt of income other than salary or Wages not required to furnish a return of income. 4. Social Security charge is payable in one sum or in equal instalments due on 1st June and 1st November, 1955. A penalty of 10 per cent accrues on the amount of each instalment unpaid after 7th July and 7th December, 1955, as the case may be. The initial payment must accompany the form on which the declaration of income other than salary or wages is made — i.e., the combined return and declaration form, the "£375 and Under Form" or the "Provisional Declaration" (see below), whichever is appropriate. Payment may be made, direct or by mail, at any office of the Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Department, or at any money-order post office. 5. Special provision has been made for persons whose income is principally or exclusively income other than salary or wages who have found it not practicable to prepare by 7th July, 1955, such accounts as may be necessary to show the income derived during the year ended 31st March, 1955 (or other approved balance date). Provided that the special "Provisional Declaration"- form (I.R. 5B) is completed and payment of the June, 1955, instalment of Social Security charge is made not later than 7th July, 1955, on the basis of the 1954 income, the 1955 combined ^ return of income and declaration of income other than" salary or wages must be furnished on or before 1st September, 1955, or .within two months after balance date, whichever is the later, and any underpay- • ment of the June, 1955, instalment of social security charge adjusted. 6. All forms are available at any district office of the Taxes Division. Inland Revenue Department, and forms other than those for companies are available at all post offices. 7. Any person or company failing to furnish a return of income within the prescribed time is liable to a fine not exceeding £100 and not less than £2. F. G. OBORN, Commissioner oi Inland Revenue.
