Notice is hereby given that the Taupo Borough Council, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Clause (3) of Regulation 8 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations, 1950 and Amendments, has prohibited the use of heavy motor vfihirles in terms of the following
resolution: — Whereas the surfaces of all roads within the Borough of Taupo, with the exception of Tauhara Road and Runanga Street, have not been constructed to a standard suitable for heavy motor vehicles and are incapable when in a wet or damp condition of carrying such heavy motor vehicles without %uffering damage which cannot promptly be repaired in the ordinary .course of road maintenance, and whereas it is imperative that such roads be kept in a continual state of reasonable condition for . the benefit of households permanently resident on or along such roads. Now, therefore, the Taupo Borough Council resolves that the said roads shall be closed to all heavy motor vehicles from the 6th day of June, 1955, until the 31st day of October, 1955, provided that this restriction may be modified in special cases and on such conditions as the Council may think fit to impose, on written application setting forth all facts in support thereof, provided, however, that this prohibition shall not apply in the case of vehicles which do not exceed the loading restrictions imposed by Class Three and which are not contravening any other law, regulation or By-law and which are operating only when the road surfaces are dry. This resolution prohibits all heavy traffic from June to October, when the roads are not dry, allows up to Class Three during the period when the roads are dry, and other special cases of heavy loads only by individual permission of the Council on the merits of the case.
