RUGBY UNION MEETS

Ihe annual geueral meeting of 1h( Taupo Rugby Sub-union, atteuded b> Club delegates from all parts of th district, took place in Rickit's Hal on March 6, Mr J. M. Stanley presid ing. In his presidential report on the past year, Mr Stanley referred to the improved general standard of play shown, and said that attendanees had probably been a record. Gate takings had been good, and donations totalling some £60 odd had been made, including those to the StJohn Ambulanee Brigade and the .Sports Ground Queen Carnival. Mr Stanley expressed the Union's thanks to the Headmaster and Staff of the Taupo School for their interest in junior football, mentioning the active help glven by Messrs Bogue, Curham and Hoggard, and stressing the importance of the Union's eneouraging junior football as much as possible. Thanks were also expressed to the members of the Taupo St. John Ambulanee Brigade; the Referees' Association ; the selector, Mr D. Tatana ; the Taupo Times ; the gatekeepers, Messrs W. G. Morris, C- R. Banks, T. Baldwin and F. Mahanga ; the "paying public," and -the Club and Subunion, officers. Another feature emphasised by the President's report was the splendid comradeship between the Maori. and Pakeha players both before, during and after games. A special tribute was paid to Mr K. Bogue for his outstanding work as Seeretary-Treasurer. Mr Bogue woulci not be able to undertake this work during the current year. The statement of aecounts showed that the season had ended with 'a credit of £52. Officers and committees for the ensuing year were elected as follows : Patron, Mr J. E. Story, Mayor of Taupo ; President, Mr J. M. Stanley ; Vice-presidents, Messrs Te • T. A. Grace, A. B. Seymour, B. Baumberg, A. H. Reid, W. G. Morris, H. Minett, E. Gurney ; Seeretary-Treasurer, Mr A. H. Reid (formerly secretarytreasurer for over 25 years who aceepted the position pro tem) ; Auditor, Mr F. D. Stretton. Management committee, the President and Secretary ex officio, Messrs G. Foote, K. Bogue, O. Delaney, Te T. A. Grace, A. Rudolph; Emergency Committee, the President and Secretary, with Mr G. Foote ; Trustees, the President and Secretary, with Mr K. Bogue.

The closing date for receipt of entries from Olubs for the season's competitions was fixed as April 1, aud the competition commencing date was fixed as April 26. The Taupo ground for the season will be situated on the School Reserve block between Heuheu and Horomatangi Streets.
