VARIETY CONCERT
Monty Graham Helps Crusaders - The variety concert produced in the War Memorial Hall on Thursday evening, March 10, by Mr Monty Graham, in aid of the Crusaders Marching Girls Club, drew a crowded house, and the audience gave every evidence of their appreciation of the fare provided. Among other highlights ' of the programme were two twenty-minute programmes provided by the 1 Logan Trio, consisting of Peter Logan (electric steel guitar and vocal), Beryl Logan (electric ukulele and vocal), and Gboff- Logan (electric Spanish guitar, played in the Arthur Smith style). Well-known in South Island and Australian radio, this talented family's presentation of popular numbers was enthusiastically received. Vocal items were contributed by Mrs A. H. McGregor, Mrs Pearl Mika, Mrs Audrey Patchett, Kathleen Pitiroi, Susan Rewa, the Flight Trio, and Denis Rameka. Mrs J. Sherwood was the aecompanist. Miss Makuini ' Warbrick, of Rotorua, who recently visited Korea and Japan with a Rotorua concert - party, accompanied by Geoff Logan on the guitar, sang "Little Whie Cloud" and "Tea for Two". Two unusual presentations' which also won a full share of interest were Mr Bill Rogers uncanny display of feats of memorisation, *and a comedy turn by The Two JBel! Birds, Maori comedians with violin and guitar. , • Adding still f urther variety .Were a Scottish hornpipe and an Irish jig danced by Maureen Geoghan, and piano solos by Aroha Mika, and a huia, accompanied by the Logan Trio, danced by Jane Mika.
