The January meeting of the Tlinekuku Countrywonien's Institute was lield in tlie Pohokura Hall, Mrs Becker presiding over a good attendance. Mrs Matene read tlie motio, "Increase your liappiness by giving some of it away." Two new members were welcomed. Demonstrations were given by Mrs Becker of making children's socks from men's old ones. The roll call, "How I- would spend a spare £ 5," was well responded to. Coinpet'tio.i winners were; Best bloom, Mrs Becker 1, Mrs Makene 2, Mrs Ohbs ai 3; jam, Mrs Ohlson L Mrs V evfecl 2, Mrs Makene 3; collection of vegetables, Mrs Ohlson 1, Mrs Becker 2, Mrs Makene 8.
