BOROUGH RETICULATION

Yandals At Power House In a report to the Borough Council meeting held on February 16, Mr J. M. Sherwood, Electrical Inspector, itated that low tension power lines were under construction in parts of Huia and Kaka- Streets, in Wharetoi, Puriri and Kotare Roads, - Sunset Street and in Ngamotu Road betWeen Henry Hill Road and Gillies Avenue. Other streets in which reticulation is being done are Tauhara Street (now re-named Rickit Street), Motutahae Street and Waikato Street. Twenty new connections had been made during the month, the total number of consumers being now 1056. Mr Sherwood reported that during recent weeks some damage had been caused by indiscriminate shooting near the Powerhouse. Some oil drums had been punctured and three . highi tension insulators (fortunately not in | use) broken. In view of the serious results that might follow such damage, Mr Sherwood asked for consideration of steps to deal with the positiom The Council decided to erect notices offering a reward for information leading to the conviction of offenders, and to ascertain the legal position with regard to trespassers on the area. Mr Sherwood stated he had reason to believe the damage was not done by deer-stalkers.
