NEXT MONTH'S THEATRE

Two Plays Coming Two flesh-and-blood plays are to be presented in Taupo next month, one by the Community Arts Service, the other 1>y the Taupo Dramatic Society. • The C. A. S. production, Shakespeare's r comedy "The Tempest," is being produced by Harold Baigent, well-kr\own tO Taupo audiences, while api.OUgst the players is Arnold Goodwin, whose outstanding work as producer for the Taupo Dramatic Soc^; iety's presentation of "Blithe Spirit" played a big part in the successful establishment of the Society. "The Tempest*' is to be presented On Thursday, March 3. • "Wasn't It Odd?" is the intriguing title of the very bright comedy, by Kenneth Horne, which the Dramatic Society will present on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 8 and 9. An, extremely . novel situation is cleverly exploited by the author, and the ingeniqus plot, delightful dialogue apd cleyer characterisation combine to make this play outstandingly attractive. "Wasn't It Odd?" is under the direction of Dulcie Cohen. Both plays are to be staged in the Taupo-nui-a-Tia War Memorial Hall. Members priority bookings for "Wasn't It Odd?" open qxx Monday next, February 21. In accordance with the expressed jWish of the Society's Annual General Meeting it has been decided by the Committee that members shall pay 2/6 for their seats at public productions. The position now is that Dramatic Society members are entitled to priority booking of one seat at 2/6, and two -fSrther seats at 5/- each - if they so: desire. Public bookings will open on Monday; February 28. In the case of the C.A.S. production, preferential bookings open at the Taupo Book Club on February 18, and public bookings on February 25.
