The . Crusaders Marching GirJ.s' team ' travelled to Wellington 'to take part in the North Island Marching Championships held on Saturday, February 12. A report recfcived by the Times states that • they gave 'a great perforniance, but were up against a very high standard of marching, and were now. able to realise that there is a vast amount to learn. There were 27 teams competing, and -a most impressive sight wa# tlie Serpentine, in which all took part, while a spectacular display by the City' of Wellington Pipe Band was a sight wliich would not soon be forgotten. With no Bay of Plenty Centre teams gaining . first or second placings in Wellington, J;he Opotiki Caledonians, as winners of the centre championships held in Te Puke on January 22, will now compete in the New Zealand championships to be held shortly in Wanganui. The members of the Crusaders i committee and team wish- to thank the public of Taupo for their genterous support in making it possible for the girls to compete in the North Island championships at Wellington. % •
