Miss Ruth Anchor, daughter of Mr and Mrs G. S. Anchor, recently flew solo, .after eight hours instruction. Her flying training has been done with the Tauranga Aero Club. * * * Mr C. A. McFarlane, DirectorGeneral of the Post and Telegraph Department, was a recent holiday visitor to Taupo, camping at Graham's Moftel, Wairakei. Mr McFarlane visited the Taupo Post Ofhce during his stay, meeting the Postmaster, Mr L. F. W. Holdsworth and the members of his staff. Mr McFarlane is no stranger to Taupo, for as a boy he was a pupil of the Waitahanui Maori School, of which his father was Headmaster, and he took the opportifnity of visiting Waitahanui and renewing acquaintance with a number of his former school companions.
