HINEKUKU C.W.I.

The December meeting of the Hinekuku Countrywomen's Institute, held in the Hall, Pohokura, was presided over by Mrs E. Beck,er, opening with "Comrades and Friends" and the reading of the Aspirations. Miss Baker read the motto, "Those who bring sunshine to others . cannot keep it from themselves.,, Mrs Becker, appropriate to the season, demonstrated the making of Christmas stockings. Competition winners "^ere: — Basket, Miss Baker 1, Mrs Ohlson 2, Mrs Perfect 3; Eggless sponge, Mrs Becker 1, Mrs Ohlson and Miss Baker 2 equal; Home-made sweets, Mrs Becker and Mrs Ohlson 1 equal, Miss Baker 2. Mrs Perfect won a competition in which members dressed to represent a song. There was a good response to the roll call, "Wfiat I like most about Christmas.,, Carols were enjoyed by all, Miss Baker entertained with a song, and Christma^s gifts and greetings were exchanged, the meeting closing with the singing of the Ode.
