CARNIVAL ACTIVITIES

"The Play's The Thin^." The comedy to be presented on January 10 and 11 at the Memorial Hall, "To Dorothy, A Son," carries three distinct appeals. It is a very bright and really humorous play; all profits go to swell the Sports Ground Fund; it will be the first play to be staged in the new hall. The Citizen's Queen Committee urge all readers to do two things, (a) Go to the Memorial Hall and enjoy the performance themselves; (b) tell as many friends as possible where and when the play may be seen. On the second and closing night the Hall will be cleared after the show and dancing will follow. Light supper will be provided, and a silver collection made to add a little more to the Sports Ground Fund. ❖ ❖ & Air Pageant, January 3. The Sports Queen Committee are to have an Air Pageant at the Tauhara Aerodrome on Monday, January 3, when five planes of the Waikato Aero Club are expected. Parachute jumps will be made by members of the Waikato Parachute Club. The programme is to commence at 11 a.m. and lunch will be available on the ground. There will be aerobatic displays and joy rides. vT>» t* Talent Quest Finalists. Prize-winners in the Maori Queen Talent Quest were as follows: — Junior, Susan Rewa 1, Alamein Purcell 2, The Murphy Sisters (Murupara) 3; Senior, The Four Flights (Turangi) 1, Dudley Tomoana 2, Pat Grey 3. The prizes are to be presented shortly at a Maori Queen entertainment which will be a combined concert and "Give It A Go" contest. The outstanding success of the Talent Quest has been due to the enthusiastic co-operation of helpers and competitiors, not only from Taupo but from as far afield at Atiamuri, Tokaanu and Murupara, and of Mr Monty Graham and the staff of N. Cole Ltd., the Mika family, T. Isaacs and others.
