BOXING DAY REGATTA
The annual Boxing Day speed boat regatta of the Taupo Motor Boat Club is to be held on Monday next, December 27, off the Lake Front in the vicinity of the foot of Tongariro Street. There are to be ten races, the first at 1 p.m. with time trials commencing at 10.30 a.m. Entries already known indicate that there should be plenty of spectacular racing. Three boats which have already arrived in Taupo for the regatta are "Chi Quita," owned by R. Beard, Palmerston North, formerly well-known here as J. E. Booth's "Nauti Gal," "Jason," owned by J. A. Nicholson, Ohakea; "Miss Napier/' owned by E. Nattrass, Napier The Taupo Championship carries a first prize of £15, and trophy, with second and third prizes of £7 and £3, while the V-bottom and Hydroplane Championships each , carry first prizes of £10 and trophy, with second and third prizes of £4 and £2. There is to be a bathing beauty contest, and members of the Auckland Water Ski Club will give demonstrations between races.
