FAREWELL AT WAIRAKEI
MR AND MRS C, E. JBROWN LEAVING The Log Cabin, Wairakei, was the scene of a social evening on Thursday, December 9, when Mr and Mrs Charles Browh were farewelled by many of their Taupo district friends and members of the Hotel Wairakei staff . Mr Brown has been manager of the Hotel since its opening by the Tourist Department following the Second World War, and is leaving to take charge of the Hotel Waitomo. The Log Cabin had been decorated with streamers and native foliage and music was supplied by Mika's Melody Makers. Much appreciated items were given by Mrs G. Patchett, the Flight Sisters and Mr Peter Graham. Mr and Mrs C. Mulla the, incoming manager and his; wife, were introduced during the evening by Mr Brown. Mr Mulla has been transferred from the Hermitage, Mount Cook. A presenjbation was made to Mr and Mrs Bxown, Mr E. T. Smith speaking on behalf of friends in Taupo and district, and Mrs B. Mika on behalf of the Hotel staff. A number of former j staff members came from Rotorua for the occasion. Following the presentation, supper was served in the lounge. Among those present were Mr and Mrs J. E. Story, Col. J. D. Swan, Mr and Mrs A. C. L. Fooks, Mrs F. M. Graham, Mr and Mrs A. L. Graham, Mrs Hullten, Dr and Mrs Richards, Mr and Mrs P. Williams, Mr and Mrs New, Mr and' Mrs G. Chase, Mr and Mrs T. Couper, Mr and Mrs Tatana, Mr and Mrs R. E. Sefton, Mr A. Wong, Mr and Mrs G. G. Beale, Mr and Mrs M. Graham, Mr and Mrs G. Patchett, Mrs Ryan, Mr and Mrs G. Marlow, Mr and Mrs L. E. Pearse, Mr and Mrs J. W. Birnie, Mr Pollett> I Mr and Mrs J. M. Dunn, Mr ! Strachan, Mr and Mrs A. D. Murray.
