ACTING AND PLAY PRODUCTION
The Taupo Dramatic Society has received advice from the N.Z. Drama Council that its sixth Residential School for Actors and Producers is to be held at Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North from the 10th to 19th January, 1955. (inclusive). ( Anyone wishing to attend the School should communicate at once with the Dramatic Society's secretary, Mrs D. Young, as applications must be lodged with the Council by December 10. An inclusive fee of £15 covers tutorial fees and board for the duration of the School. Acting and Play Production in all its aspects will be taken by three tutors, namely Mr Frank Newman, Resident Producer to the Canterbury Repertory Theatre; Mr Bernard Kearns, of the staff of the N.Z. Broadcasting Service; and Mrs Gillian Jackson (Diploma of Physical Education, Otago University) of Dunedin. Scenes will be rehearsed and brought to performance point; and the tutors will also oversee student producers working on selected scenes with the acting students. There will be lectures on various aspects of stage work, and movement, mime and crowd production will receive special attention. The Drama Council points out that the School is not intended for beginners.
