LAKE VIEW AT WAIPEHI

Waipehi, twenty miles from Taupo on the Taupo-Turangi Main Highway, is a favourite fishing and camping spot on the eastern shore of Lake Taupo. Our picture shows the point with Tauhara Mountain, near Taupo itself, in the background. The late Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Jellicoe, camped at Waipehi for six weeks one summer during his Jerm as Governor-General, and the spot has since been popularly known as Jellicoe Point. The small Waipehi Stream flows into the Lake on the north side of the point.
