"POTENTIAL DEATH TRAP?"

Sir, — What has happened to the Taupo Town Planning Committee? I refer to that stupid and expensive twist on the corners of Tongariro Street and Spa Road. This work has been carried out with probably the usual good intentions with the result that the junction concerned has now become a major trap for all motorists and a very difficult corner for all heavy trucks such as timber trucks. Although a white fence has been erected together with one red lamp hanging on it for the last three nights (prior to October 6) no light has been seen. Wonder why? Surely it would be far better if the worthy Body concerned concentrated on the shocking cbndition of the other roads in Taupo and stopped making potential death traps of our roads. I hope you will publish this. I am, etc., "TAUPO MOTORIST." [Note: — See report of Council discussion in this issue.— Ed.]
