This was a hard fought match, Mrs Colbeck taking 84 and Mrs Hullten 86. In the semi final of the Patron's Trophy Miss 'Branson and E. Smith defeated Miss Smith and D. Neame 3 and 2. In the previous week's golf, E. ' Irving and J. Hurrell played off in the final of the Junior Championship, not of the Captain's Trophy as inadvertently reported, Irving defeating Hurrell 5 and 4. New Nine Holes On Satfirday, October 9, club members had a preliminary canter round the new nine holes, preparatory to the official opening later. The President's attempt to "drive the first ball was made difficult by various £off stage" noises, resulting in an "air shot." Feeling unequal to another attempt, Mr Cheal called on Miss Branson, the Patron's daughter, to see if she could do better. Teeing up, Miss Branson, despite more £noises off," did succeed in getting the ball away. The President and Mrs Cheal, and Captaih andl Mrs Young, then hit off, followed by the other players, playing a Stableford bogey. It was an interesting afternoon for club members, many of whom had helped in working bees, and all were keen to try out the addition to the course. On Saturday, October 16, there will be Fourball bogey matches for ladies and men rei spectively, starting at 1 p.m.
