AN AIRCRAFT A WEEK
An assembly line which will occupy 9000 square feet of floor space is being set up in a hangar at Rukuhia Aerodrome, Hamilton, for the assembly of the new Fletcher FU-24 topdressing aircraft. One hundred of these machines have been ordered by James. Aviation Ltd., who carried out aerial topdressing recently from Tauhara Aerodrome, Taupo, as replacement machines for part of the Dominion's fleet of agricultural planes. The first Fletcher is due in New I Zealand about the end of this j month. After assembly and testing i at Rukuhia it will be demonstrated to topdressing operators throughout the country. The new plant is the first to be established in New Zealand for the fabrication of
stressed skin aircraft' and will employ about 25 workers. When the assembly line is; operating at capacity it is plann^d to have one completed aircraft rolling off it each week.
