GOLF CLUB NOTES
LADIES' TAUHARA CUP / The ladies played their Tauhara Cup match on Thursday, September 30, when Mrs Young and Mrs Watson returned the best score. This combined medal score was 197, less combined handicaps of 50, making the nett score of 157. Last year's holders, Mrs Logan and Miss McKelvie came in second with a nett 153. Ladies, Versus Men Match On Saturday, October 2, the ladies challenged the men, and, despite the assistance of the Messrs Sherning, Stretton and Watson, who played for the ladies as Misses, j the ladies had to admit that they were defeated. Two ball and four ball matches were played on handicap, all being keenly contested, with several very close finishes. Hole In One The highlight of the afternoon was a "hole in one" scored at the 3rd by Mr G. Sutherland, of Waitahanui. Mr Sutherland is a comparatively new, but very keen player, and was sincerely and warmly congratulated by his fellow members. Captain's Trophy On Sunday, E. Irving and J. Hurrell played the final of the Captain's Trophy. After the first 18 holes Irving was 5 up, but after lunch Hurrell fought back to retrieve the odd hole, the match' finishing at the 32nd hole when, Irving won 5 and 4. The men's fourball bogey match scheduled for Saturday, October 9, has been changed to a mixed four ball Stableford bogey. Players are asked to arrange their own partners and opponents and to enter
by 1.15 p.m. The match will start, at 1.30 p.m.
