HINEKUKU C.W.I. HOLDS FIRST MEETING

At Pohokura, Taupo-Napier main highway, the first meeting of the Hinekuku Countrywomen's Insti-t-ute was held on September 8, there being a full attendance of members. The ofhcers of the Institute: are: President, Mrs E. Becker, who was a foundation member of the Kaiata C.W.I., South Island; Vice-presi-dent, Mrs A. Perfect; Secretary, Mrs D. A. Liddington; Committee members, Mrs C. Gartner, Mrs V. Cooper, Mrs C. Gavin. The Roll Call subject was "Place of My Birth." Competitions resulted as follows: Sugar-bag article, Mrs Gavin; Best fern arrangement, Mrs V. Cooper; Scones, Mrs Liddington. Mrs C. Gartner gave a demonstration of making baskets from crepe paper. The hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Perfect, Cooper and Matene. An enjoy able supper was served and community singing was enjoyed by all. )
