WEDDING
VAN DER LEDEN — RICKIT A very large assembly of relatives and friends gathered on Saturday September 11, for the marriage of Marie Caroline, only daughter of well-known Taupo residents Mr and Mrs Tom Rickit, and Johan, second son of Mr and Mrs Van Der Leden (Holland). St. Andrew's Church had been tastefully decorated with spring fiowers by Mrs Brian Garlick and Miss Mina Scott. The Rev. H. Tangohau was the officiating minister, and Miss Jun'e Armstrong acted as organist. The bride looked charming in an ivory satin gown cut on Princess lines, featuring a moulded bodice, with pointed yoke of broderie anglaise organdie and stand-up collar, buttoned at back with tiny pearl studs, the long sleeves being cut to a point over the hands. The full skirt ended in a generously cut train and featured godets of the broderie anglaise. The beautiful scalloped edged veil was lavishly embroidered and appliqued with satin flowers and held to the head by a circlet of mother of pearl orange blossoms. The bride carried a shower bouquet of lilies, tulips and daffodils with maidenhair fern. The brides.maid, Miss Elizabeth ("Mufty") Rameka, cousin of the bride, wore a gown of white embossed Swiss organdie over blush pink taffeta, with tiny matching jacket, and in her hair pastel-shaded cyclamen and carnations matching her bouquet of spring flowers. The best man was Mr Dick Bovin, of Wel- . lington. i Mr and Mrs T. Rickit entertained their guests at a reception in Rickit's Hall, which had been beautifully decorated for the occasion. Spring flowers decked the tables and artificial wistaria and streamers graced walls and ceiling. Mrs Rickit received her guests wearlng a* suit of misty blue shantung with navy accessories and a spray of pink carnations and maidenhair fern. Mr J. E. Story was toastmaster. Among the two hundred and seventy guests the following were visitors to Taupo for the wedding: — Mr and Mrs A. Miller (uncle and aunt of the bride), and Mr John Miller, Ohope; Mr G. Lindsay, Dannevirke; Mrs J. Clarke (aunt of the bride), Auckland; Mr and Mrs Worth, Putaruru;! Mr and Mrs Dick Bovin, Wellington. The bride took leave of the guests wearing a smart coat frock of iridescent lime green and black striped silk with tiny black hat and accessories. The young couple, who left on a motor tour, will reside in Taupo.
