PUBLIC OPINION
GYMKHANA CLUR ■ Sir, — I wish' to advise all members and supporters of the Taupo Gymkhana Club as to*my reasoh for leaving the meeting of the Club held on August 29, as the report of the meeting published in the "Taupo Times" of September 3 did not mentioh why I did so. I have always been a strohg supporter for providiiig Taupo vrith an up to date sports ground, providing plans and costs etc. are produced. Bi\t the meeting held on August 29 was not a general meeting of the Club, and in my view was that the question of making a donation from the Club's funds, to the present Sports Ground Appeal, was one that should be dealt with by a general meeting. Seeing that it was against my principles to make any decision as to the use of the Club's funds, except at a general meeting of which due notice had been given to all members, I deemed it my duty to leave the meeting. I believe that a general meeting of the Club would have agreed to make a substantial donation to the Sports Ground, as has been done by the Club in the past. I would not be opposed to such a donation provided the correct procedure were followed in deciding on it.
I am, etc.,
PAUL
SILVA.
