MAIN STREET FATALITY

DEATH OF MR "KAHI" HURAE A fatal accident occurred in Tongariro Street, Taupo, on Friday evening, August 20, when Temataha Te Kaituha Hurae, aged 39, married, of Taupo, was killed as a result of a fall from his bicycle. Deceased apparently grazed a parked truck as he rode down the street and was thrown to the road, striking his head on the paved surfaee. Mr Hurae, was well-known in the district and for some years was employed as a grader driver by the Ministry of Works. He was the only foundation member of the Taupo Fire Brigade stili serving in the Brigade, and held the rank of a Sub-Officer. He leaves a wife and eight children. An inquest was opened by the Coroner, Col. J. D. Swan, and adjourned foliowing evidence of identification.
