WINTER CALM

Taken from neaf the mouth of the Waitahanui, the well-known fishing stream which enters Lake Taupo from the east some eight miles from Taupo, this photograph shows the lake in one of its calmer moods. The western shore in the distance is some sixteen miles away. The prominent headland in the right middle distance is Whangamata Bluff, which separates the northern bays of Whakaipo and Whangamata.
