Municipal Motor Camp. The Borough Council at it recent meeting decided to close the Municipal Motor Camp temporarily. The camp will be re-opened for Labour Day week-end. JjC % A Wettest Day Of Year. Saturday last, August 14, was the wettest day this year in Taupo. The rainfall, for the twenty-four hours ending 9 a.m. on the Sunday, totalled 2.20 inches, being .76 inch more than fell on March 7, previously the year's wettest day. R.S.A. Thanks Mr Bill Arnold. At the monthly Committee Meeting of the Taupo Returned Services Association, on Tuesday, August 10, the president, Mr E. F. Wright, expressed the thanks of the Association to Mr P. W. ("Bill") Arnold for the use of his premises for meetings, and also for his services on the Committee. Their best wis^ies would go with Mr and Mrs Aronld on their taking up residence « in Tauranga. 1 «T» V Taupo Not So Cold. Residents of "sunny" Hawke's Bay and "sub-tropical" Tauranga often refer to the "Antarctic" cold of Taupo. Taupo's hardest frost this year was one of 16.3 degrees on Monday, August 9, followed by the year's second hardest of 15.1 degrees the following morning. In the Havelock district, H.B., a frost of 22 degrees was recorded. At Tauranga on Tuesday, August 10, 17 degrees were recorded at the, Meteorological Station at the Tauranga Aerodrome. It was the 42nd frost recorded there this year and the seventh over ten degrees. Tauranga's previous heaviest frost of this year was one of 12.4 degrees on June 28. On that date Taupo had one of 12.3 degrees. Rotorua's record this year stands at 19 degrees of frost.
