TAUPO BUS TERMINAL

MOVE TO CHANGE FROM WAIRAKEI TO TAUPO At the Borough Council's meeting on August 4 the Town Clerk, Mr S. Torepe, reported that the Chairman of the Transport Licensing Authority had called on him when in Taupo recently. In a discussion of the Council's view that the terminal of the local bus services should be at Taupo, and not at Wairakei as at present, the Chairman had suggested that the Council should first take up the matter with the N.Z. Railway Road Service. He had stated that the licenses for the services concerned had recently been! renewed, for five years. Application could be made to the Authority at any time, however, to have licenses reviewed in the public interest. It was moved by the Mayor, Mr J. E. Story, and seconded by Cr K. E. Young, that the Town Clerk be instructed to write to the N.Z. Road Services as suggested by the Transport Authority.
