YEAR'S HEAVIEST FROST

16.3 DEGREES ON 9th Taupo's heaviest frost of the year occurred on Monday morning, Aug- , ust 9, when the State Hydro-Elec-tric Department's meteorological station at the Dam registered 14.3 degrees of frost. [ Col. J. E. Barton reports that he recorded 12 degrees of frost at his residence, Pataka Road, in which locality frosts generally appear to be lighter than in some parts of the Borough. There were about 16 degrees of frost at Rangipo, south of Turangi. 15.1 degrees were registered at Taupo on Tuesday morning, the second heaviest frost of the year. Burst pipes and taps were reported by a number of residents in the! disfctfct.
