BOY BADLY HURT RY ELECTRIC SHOCK

TOUCHES 11,000 VOLT LINE AT WAITAHANUI A seven year old boy, Manuel Manunui, son of Mr and Mrs Ruka Manunui, was seriously injured at Waitahanui on Tuesday, July 20, when he came in contact with the 11,000 volt main power line from the Hinemaiai Hydro-electric Power Station to Taupo. It is understood that the lad, while playing with other children, climbed a power pole and touched one of the live wires. He was thrown to the ground and severely •burned on the left arm, thigh and left leg. He was brought to Taupo by Mr F. Logan and attended by Dr. Richaras, then being taken to Rotorua Hospital in the ambulance of the Taupo St. John Ambulance Brigade. On Sunday last it was found necessary to amputate the boy's left arm above the wrist.
