BOROUGH OF TAUPO MOTOR LORRY TRAFFIC NOTICE is hereby given that the Taupo Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Clause (3) of Regulation 8 of the Heavy Motor Vehicle Regulations 1950, has prohibited the use of heavy motor-vehicles in terms of the following resolution: "Whereas the surfaoes of all roads within the Borough of Taupo with the exception of Golf Links Road and Runanga Street, have not been constructed to a standard suitable for heavy-vehicles and are incapable when in a wet and damp condition of carrying such heavy motor-vehicles without suffering damage, which cannot promptly be repaired in the ordinary course of road maintenance, and whereas it is imperative that such roads be kept in a continued state of reasonable condition for the benefit of households permanently resident on or along such roads," Now therefore the Taupo Borough Council resolves that the said roads shall be closed to all heavy motor-vehicles from the 1st day of August, 1954 until the 30th day of September, 1954, provided that this restriction may be modified in special cases and on such conditions' as the Council may think fit to impose, on written application, setting forth all facts in support thereof, provided however, that this prohibition shall not apply in the case of vehicles which do not exceed the loading restrictions imposed by Class Three and which are not contravening any other law, Regulation or By-law and which are operating only when road surfaces are dry.

This resolution prohibits all heavy traffic from August to September, when the roads are not dry, allows up to C.lll during the period when the roads are dry and other special cases of heavy loads only by individual permission of the Council on the merits of the case.
