GOLF CLUB NOTES
On Ladies' Day at the Taupo Golf Club's course last week members played a round of the L.G.U. Medal. Best cards were Mrs Mclsaac 104-32-72, Mrs Watson 112-34-78, Mrs Young 98-20-78. On Saturday, July 24, the men played the third round of the President's Trophy, a competition for the best 3 medal rounds out of 4. Conditions were excellent and the links had been well groomed. However, results were rather disappointing, there being some surprising failings. Best cards were D. Neame 74-8-66, S. Neame 82-12-70, and T. G. Price 85-15-70. D. Neame's handicap has now been reduced to 7. During the week-end T. G. Price also played another good round 80-15-65. It is pleasing to see his sudden return to form, and the handicappers appear to be taking more than a casual interest in, his play. Members will notice a big difference in the growth on No. 2 Green since it has • been cored. Other greens seem to require similar treatment, but done by hand this is a long and arduous task. At the moment the Club is making enquiries regarding the purchase of a machine for this work. On Saturday, July 31, the Men will play a Bogey Match.
