MIDGET RUGBY

RED v. GOLD On Saturday, July 24, the Taupo Primary School fielded two midget teams of seven players, each player being under 7 stone. Red won by 15 — nil. The five minutes each way game, played across the field during the interval in the Maniaj poto Cup match, was enjoyed immensely by over 200 people on the sidelines. Red showed a marked superiority, with M. Loughlin and P. Ngamotu scoring two tries each, and A. McGregor one. M. Samuels and H. Gillies were promising for the Gold team, but through good defence by the Red they could not score. Mr W. Gosling was the referee.
