SUNLIGHT AND STEAM

The man-made steam jets of the Wairakei Geo-thermal Power project are, perhaps, generally thought of as somewhat aweinspiring reminders of the mighty forces imprisoned in the earth beneath. But, on occasion, when conditions of sunshine and wind are propitious, the spiraliing towers of steam that stud the valley have a beauty of their own. Something of that beauty has been captured in this picture of two of the earlierdrilled wells, from a photograph by Mr E. Ryan.
