INSTITUTE GARDENING CIRCLE

TALK ON ROSES The Gardening Circle of the Taupo Countrywomen's Institute held their monthly meeting at the home of Mrs Keating Smith last week, each member bringing for their hostess, who had moved into a new house, some plants for her garden. Miss R. McKelvie gave an interesting talk on Roses, dealing with different varieties and how to grow them. Members were much interested in the description of the dwarf varieties, which may be grown in small pots and kept to between six and twelve inches in height, the flowers being so small that three could be arranged in a thimble. Miss McClymont demonstrated how to make a "floral lady," and Mrs Gradwell a flax basket suitable for carrying flowers. A suggestion was made that the Ciricle members should later help members of the Reporoa Gardening Circle by sending them some plants and cuttings. The meeting closed with thanks to Miss McKelvie and Mrs Keating Smith.
