Don McLeod's three-point hydro-plane Susan Leigh, named after his elder daughter, has been well-known to Taupo residents, and among speed-boat enthusiasts elsewhere in New Zealand, for several seasons. The above picture shows her racing at Wellington. With speeds up to a recently timed 90 miles per hour she is easily the fastest boat yet seen on Lake Taupo. She was recently taken to Auckland, and it is expected that she will be raced in the N.Z. and Australasian Unrestricted Championships at Wellington next season by Les Griffin, owner of Whirlwin.
