CRICKET NOTES

TAUPO HOLDS LETT CUP Taupo retained the Lett Cup with a first innings win by a margin of 85 runs in the match played on the Domain against National Park on April 11. The visitors put Taupo in to bat and in under half-an-hour dismissed three of the home side for 42 runs. Sutherland again showed good form, collecting four fours in one over off Reardon. A partnership of 60 between Sutherland and Frank McKean then took the total over the century before Sutherland was L.B.W. for 56. Kildey scored a vigorous 20 including two sixes, one of which looked like finishing in the river. Frank McKean continued steadily taking full advantage of the loose ball and completed an excellent half-century, his highest score for Taupo. The home team's innings realised 180. National Park opened disastrously, losing no less than four wickets before a run was scored against the bowling of Kildey and Forster. With a change in the bowling and the arrival of Pat Bull at the bat-

ting crease the outlook for the Park improved somewhat, but eight wickets were down for 40 runs. The last two batsmen assisted Bull to bring the score up to respectable proportions. No. 11 was a schoolboy, Peter Warner, who showed special if somewhat unorthodox promise. The innings ended for 95 runs leaving Taupo 85 in the lead. TAUPO— First Innings G. A.
