TRUE FISH STORY

SIX MONTH S OLD TROUT SIX INCBES IN LENGTH A remarkable example of trout growth was recently reported at the Tauranga Acclimatisation Society's raising pool at the McLaren's Falls Power Station, near Tauranga. Six months after the -fry were placed in the pool the fish in question was 6| inches long and 3 inches in girth. The trout, with about six others, reached this phenomenal size while being raised by society members, with the co-operation of the station staff. Most of the fish released had reached about half that size. Suggestions that the fish grew from some fingerlings left in the pool when last year's batch were released can be discounted as the pond was empty duiing the off season and scrubbed heartily before the new fry were put in.
