HATEPE NOTES
Fishing Improves. Amongst fish taken recently was one of lli lbs taken by Mr W. Hale, of Hamilton, and another of 10i lbs taken by Mr Vic M. Simpson, of Wellington. A boating party on Tuesclay 11th took fifteen trout. Fish taken are showing improved condition, and some good specimens have been taken at the Hatepe Mouth. * sfc % Hatepe Hill Sealed. The Hatepe Hill road has now been sealed. During the recent dry period this stretch of road was a night-mare, due to clouds of dust raised by the inconsiderate type of car driver! The work has been carried out with commendabl'e despatch. ❖ ❖ >: Tree On House. During a recent storm a large pine tree was blown down and fell on a house recently completed at Hatepe for Mr R. Laurence, of Carterton. The front of the house was obscured by the tree and it seemed miraculous that the large plate glass windows were not shattered. It is anticipated that damage will be of a minor nature. •T* ^ ^ Social And Personal. Mr and Mrs C. W. Taylor, of Wellington, are guests of Mr and Mrs V. M. Simpson. Among recent visitors have been Mr and Mrs J. North, of Palmerston Nortfe, and Miss North, who is on the staff of the N.Z. Herald, Mr Justice North and Mrs North, and Mr K. North, a recent Rhodes Scholar; Mr Michael Dean, who is regaining health rapidly under the care of his father, Dr. K. Dean. Mr Dean is on the staff of the Times, Palmerston North and plans to leave for England shortly to further his journalistic studies.
