FALSE PRETENCES CHARGE

Lesiie John Goodlet, aged 32, single, who had been employed at the Hotel Wairakei as a porter, appeared before Justices at the Magistrate's Court, Taupo, on Friday, March 12, on a charge that on February 17 at Wellington he did obtain from Messrs- Stewart Dawson Ltd., the sum of £24 by means of a valueless cheque. Defendant had been arrested at Wairakei by Constable E. H. Rowlands. Constable Rowlands applied for a remand to Wellington, stating that other charges were pending, and Goodlet was remanded to appear there on March 16. _
