WOMEN'S INSTITUTE CHRISTMAS PARTY
A large number attended ihe Taupo women's Institiute annual Christmas party on Wednesday December 16. A large decorated Christmas Tree was source of delight to the many* children. A humourous sketch entitled "The Magic Tabloid" was ably enacted by Miss McClymont and Mrs G, Taylor, entertainingly presenting the amusing complications following the granting of a wish, made by the dissatisfied companion (Mrs Taylor) of an eccentric old lady (Miss McClymont), that she might be the maid, Mary. Following the play, Santa Claus appeared on the stage to greet the children and distribute the gifts from the tree, the presentation of which produced a scene of some excitement. Following this the children adjourned to the table, laden with fruit jellies, trifle and soft drinks, with gay paper hats for all. A most successful gathering concluded with afternoon tea prepared by the Institute members for the grown-ups.
